You can buy (or make your own!) net bags to put socks and other small clothing items in when you wash them so the washer goes hungry!

Washer blows up: Maybe I fed it too many socks?
by mamochan13 inwell my trusty washer has finally given up the ghost.
for two years now, ever since my daughters and four grandchildren all moved back in with me, it's been subjected to two or three loads daily.
last month when all the grandkids had the flu we were up to six or seven loads a day.

Is it wrong
by notknowing inis it wrong that i am now part of a ministry where we reach out to the young and old.
we go into prisons and juvenile detention centers to talk to the kids and adults to encourage them to read there bible and to show motivation.
the way how we do this is through our motorcycle and the stunts we perform.

Keep doing what you're doing notknowing!
Bottom line is, it isn't YOU who changes the peoples' hearts - that's down to God alone. Your work is 'merely' doing the introducing by getting on the same wavelength as the folks you're with - after that, it's their choice whether to look further.

I'm waiting for the snow to thaw enough so that I can actually walk on it rather than skating! Then I'll go out for a walk.
I go back to work on Monday, just for a couple of days then I have some more holiday booked.

A special mug and tree decorations and a calendar - all the way from South Africa! And some socks, PJ's, a toaster, biscuits, a book and lots of tins of tuna (which I eat a lot of but is quite expensive at the moment)
And I've just come home after spending a wonderful day with the rest of the family and...
my fridge-freezer has started working again after 3 days out of action, whoopeee!!!

Working for a JW, what a horrible experience...
by HappyGuy inone of the things that made me start doubting the wtbts and jws was the way jws treat their jw employees.. i worked for jws several times.
the experience was always the same.. 1. pay was less than the going market rate for the same work at "worldly" companies.. 2. there were no benefits of any kind, no paid holidays, no sick time, no overtime, no insurance.. 3. whenever possible the jw forced the jw employees to pay their own company related expenses like gas, pager, company uniform, etc.. 4. any attempt to discuss the poor working conditions was always responded to with "but you get to make all the meetings and you get to go to the assemblies and you get to work for brothers.
" and, if you said "i would go to meetings regardless of who i worked for" and pushed back on that answer then they started in on your "loyalty" and you were unspritual if you questioned a "brother" and were not "loyal" to your employer.. 5. any attempt to find another job was met with harassment, being told you could not give the jw employer as a reference, being threatened with lawsuits, etc.. 6. the jw employers themselves were lazy and would not do the things they expected of their jw employees.. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------.

I might not mind working for JWs...
Employees have more legal rights here - so they wouldn't get away with half the things on your list!

Everything I do (I do it for you) by Bryan Adams.
Ever since my drunken neighbour played it NONSTOP, all night long (yes - around SIX hours!) in an attempt to say sorry to his girlfriend

an exchange today...something that tore at my heart.
by restrangled ini pulled up into my drive with a trunk full of groceries....hoping to avoid the jw's next door.
too late, as i popped my trunk i hear behind me hello.. in general, i try to be nice, i let them introduce themselves and then let them know my mom is a current witness, i was raised one and i am out.. they dropped the witness stuff, and we introduced ourselves.
i always shake hands....as a woman shaking hands i can always tell a sincere man.

I get a similar idea to palmtree from reading your account.
He gave you that handshake after you told him you were out - if he was a fully reformed back-in JW, wouldn't it have been more of a nervous/uncomfortable thing for him to do?
So maybe he has gon back to be with family but is mentally still out - and he was genuinely glad to have contact with you, he now has an ally who understands.
Don't be too upset about what he's done just yet, wait and see - he may need you
